About a month ago or so he started requesting to play rockband, and he'd want me and Mommy to head downstairs and play while he watched, and hammered on the drum pads, or carried around an unplugged guitar to "play" along with us. He's so musically inclined, apparently: He goes from the Mike-y-phone, to the Gih-Taaaarrrr, to the Pando, and then the Drums, which he says most normal of all...although he almost always says "I play drums!" not just the word "drums."

On Sunday, he also kept asking us for his "monica" after we changed his bum. We almost left the room, not sure what he was talking about, until we realized it was the harmonica he had been playing after his bath. He'd blow through it in and out, and then let us know "That's Wowed!"

His latest instrument is the accordion at my parent's house (or, as he prefers to call it, "coy-yoin"). He loves trying to play it, even though it's nearly as big as he is! I'll have to let him try my single-octave one and see if he likes it better.

I Draw Number Oh!

On Sunday I think it was, Matthew was having some fun colouring with his markers, and started drawing what looked like upside-down "U" shapes. He seemed to take a little more time when doing it than his normal scribbling, the kind of time he takes when he's trying to draw sharp corners to make what he thinks is a Triangle. After a few of them, and a couple with closed bottoms so they looked almost like "0" shapes, he started getting excited and telling us "I draw number O!" I tried correcting him that it was a zero, not an "O", but then I realized that he just had the definition of number wrong, and that he was indeed making "O"s, as in the letter, just calling it a number. He is so smart sometimes!

I'm Thinking!

When my parents came to get Matthew this morning, Laurie asked him a question. He didn't answer, so she asked him another, and he looked at her and said "I'm thinking" as if to say "I haven't answered your first question yet mom, because I'm thinking of my answer!"

Out of the Mouth of Babes

Last night we had a fundraiser to attend, so we brought Matthew to my In-Law's place for the night. We were leaving their house around 1 in the afternoon, and Baba was at the door saying to us "have a good time tonight" and Matthew came running up to the door, looked at both of us, and said "be careful." We said pardon, and he repeated it, and then he kept saying it, staring off into the distance, "be careful"! It was so cute, we both just wanted to take him right there and not stop hugging him!

I went running out to find Matthew lying on his side in the middle of our bed, his eyes staring blankly, his mouth open making tiny gasps, almost imitating a fish. Laurie was already on the phone with 911, and he fell asleep withing a minute of me seeing him in that state. Two ambulances arrived, and a police car, and a firetruck, all for our little man. Apparently he had had another febral convulsion. The doctor at the hospital told us it didn't sound normal, so we had to see our family doctor right away, because he had double the chances of developing epilepsy. Thankfully, our doctor told that wasn't true, and it sounded pretty normal to him. Either way, he's fine now, just ran fevers for the day following, but now he's been fever free for a whole day and a bit! It's scary, but reassuring that these kinds of convulsions are somewhat common and rarely if ever pose long-term problems. 5 1/2 hours at the hospital was a little crazy to wait for urine test results and to see a doctor, but at least they were there for him, so I can't complain too much.
